Scriptic Clues is an ongoing catalogue of lessons learned from others’ mistakes and successes. The author is an aspiring screenwriter who is learning the art of screenwriting from reading the works of professionals. Scriptic Clues is the result of those learnings and contains lines, conventions, habits and formatting that the author plans to emulate or avoid in his own work.

The author is in no way an expert in the craft of screenwriting and the opinions contained here should not be considered reviews. The whole point of Scriptic Clues is for the author to make his learning process public for the education and entertainment of others.

Matthew de Beer is a copywriter by day and an aspiring screenwriter, videographer and photographer by night and weekend. Born in South Africa, raised in the Netherlands and living in London, he’s become an eager student of what makes people equal and what sets them apart.
